Last May I was on the island in the biggest storm (during the time that we are open) of our 37 year history (as opposed to hurricane season, when we are closed). The storm did a lot of damage to the island; it was VERY EXCITING. I was there! You can read about this, and see great destruction pictures also, elsewhere on our blog: A REALLY big storm.
So, hurricane season is over, and we are in the process of re-building. Cully finally went into Belize City to buy more supplies and just sent images of the new-and-improved sea kayak palapa. It’s hard to tell in the new image, but it’s about 8 feet longer (we didn’t have enough room for all of our kayaks to fit before) and also a bit taller so you don’t have to stoop to get inside.
I’ll be posting other images of island improvements in weeks to come.
